I have the ability to give myself (and others) as many posts as I want. It's good to be the admin.

I have to agree about classic movies.
Some of the Chaplin movies like The Kid, The Gold Rush and Modern Times; Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers etc. have never been bettered. I also love those thirties MGM literary adaptations like Dickens' David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities.
A great old movie to check out is the original Dracula with Bela Lugosi (with Philip Glass' new score) - very atmospheric and incredibly influential on every subsequent view of the vampire.
The great Frederick March version of Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde - genuinely scary and disturbing: for it's time a very bold movie.
Virtually any film by Orson Welles: Kane, Ambersons, his Macbeth and Othello the list goes on...
Any of the early Brando movies: The Men, The Wild Ones, Streetcar Named Desire, Julius Caesar and the brilliant On The Waterfront ( Brando's best role?)
Has anyone ever seen any silent movies? I remember seeing a very early Douglas Fairbanks jnr. film of The Man in the Iron Mask (the best version I've seen). They are a much neglected and fascinating watch.
What is it that makes Black and White so special? I can't explain why it is so powerful. Any ideas?
